Trac Mac started 30 years ago on 1st July 1982 as a tyre fitment centre, the first of its kind in Cape Town, a small outlet in Short market Street Cape Town. I purchased the company in July 1984 and two years later I moved the business to Waterkant Street where we traded for 25 years.
In 2005 Kevin Spratley joined me as a partner and we opened Trac Mac Bellville. Two years later we opened Trac Mac Wynberg.
The company has grown year on year and we pride ourselves on being service orientated. With 30 year’s operating experience and three branches, we now feel the time is right for us to enter the fast growing online business.
To assist with our new venture, Merri Spratley joined our team as a partner and will run the online business.

In 1972 Mike Hopkins bought his first motorcycle at the age of 21. He was racing at National level by 1974 and won the 1976 South African 500cc Motocross title. He continued to compete winning no less than seven Western Province Motocross Championships and five Regional Enduro Championships until forced into retirement by a back injury in 1987.
Somewhat of a legend in the motorcycling industry, Mike established Mike Hopkins Motorcycles in 1978 at 133 Bree Street, Cape Town. It is the oldest motorcycle shop in the Western Cape and its iconic reputation stands testament to Mike’s perservering commitment to providing an overall motorcycling experience to customers.
